How To Deal With A Bad to Impossible Situation

How To Deal With A Bad To Impossible Situation

Have you ever been in a situation where you think that it just cannot get worse, and it does? Have you ever been swept along in a series of events that are not rational or reasonable? Have you ever had problems for which there seemed to be no solutions?
Your painful trial is like a heavy load that bears you down with agonising sadness. What do you experience during these impossible difficult times? Don’t you feel absolutely frustrated, helpless, and vulnerable as you are powerless to make the situation better? Prayers fail you and you are unable to pray? Not believing at the exasperating situation , you look on desperately like a zombie!
It’s not just you. It’s not just me. It’s just life.

My take on such a sticky plight

Well, what have I DONE when faced with a similar situation?

First reaction – Question God, ‘Why?’
Second reaction –Self-pity
The third reaction – Give in to a bout of tears.

I have felt like I hit the rock bottom and cannot go down any further! It was then that I have realized that God was the ROCK at the bottom! By now, after exhausting all the whys, self-pity, and bout of tears, I look to the rock to cling to!

“ Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” Job 13: 15 .
   What an inspirational attitude!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. The Bible says in  (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
What more comfort do we need?

Gradually, the WHY ME turns to WHY NOT ME !

Apply the “Why not me?” mindset to your life .

The “why not me” mentality makes you aware that :

  • There has to be some purpose to these unnatural situations.
  • Everything has a reason and a season.
  • It helps you to understand that it is impossible to learn and grow without adversity and difficulties.

A Good Solution

Why not utilize your experiences of hardships and struggles, to reach out and help others who are in similar predicaments ?

After all, everyone has their own personal battles, be it depression, anxiety, or loneliness. It is easier for those who have gone through challenges to sympathize and identify with others in their sufferings.

Maybe God is working in your life through suffering to inspire others by your example in adversity.

The Bible says that we should comfort others just as God comforts us.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God” ( 2 Corinthians 1: 3-4 ) NIV.

I have over the years slowly but surely cultivated a method that has helped me tremendously. So, here’s what I do :

I close my eyes tightly, breathe in and out, and concentrate on God my Savior, Jesus. I just WILL that God’s hands touch my forehead, my temples till I FEEL His touch and experience, peace and calm. The situation is still there hovering over my head, but then, I have peace and I am calm. I keep repeating, ‘With God all things are possible’. Very soon I am filled with courage and strength to carry on, move on, laugh out heartily, though the impossible situation is still perched safely in the background! Only Hope and Faith can carry you through these difficult situations.

Firmly believe that ‘If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it’

Trust me, it works wonderfully!

I love this awesome quote by Christian singer Wintley Phipps :

“It is in the quiet crucible of your personal, private suffering that your noblest dreams are born and God’s greatest gifts are given, in compensation for what you have been through.”

How do you deal with an impossible situation? Any feedback is most welcome!
