Introduction - No Clue
Do you want what God wants, but you have no idea what it is? Are you wandering about directionless? You have no focus on where you are going? You do not see the road ahead of you. You have no inkling where it will end.
You don’t have any specific goals in front of you, unlike the Israelites, who wandered for 40 years, and yet had a goal – the Promised Land.
In a nutshell, you have no clue about the will of God in your life.
Yet, you crave to know God’s will ..well, here’s how God reveals His Will to you.’
What is God’s will ?
God’s will is His divine plan for your life. His purpose for your life – a blueprint plan for your life!
Your life counts. God has numbered your days and will fulfill every purpose He has for you.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
What is Gods Will in MY LIFE ?
What is God’s purpose for my life? These questions flood our minds especially when we are at the crossroad of making important decisions. For instance, we are confused when choosing a spouse, a job or maybe buying a property or house and so on.
You are wondering whether the option you are about to take is right and is INDEED the will of God.
During these times, don’t we feel like crying out in exasperation, ‘Lord, show me your will!’
Want God to show you his will?
Well, make a start:
- Repent of your sins.
- Believe in Christ’s crucification and resurrection.
- Trust and have faith in God completely.
- Ask Him for guidance, and direction in all that you do.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight” (Proverbs 3:5, 6).
What should I do so that God shows me His Will ?
- Spend loads of time studying the Word of God. Period.
- Learn to walk with God.
- Develop a relationship with God. That’s what our Maker wants. Christianity is all about a relationship and spiritual connection with God .
Thus, when we diligently wait on the Lord by praying and studying Gods word and listening to the Holy Spirit, He will reveal His Will to us, as our faith and trust in Him grows!
Keep in mind that God will not be in a hurry to show you His plan if He knows that you are not ready to do it.
How to develop a relationship with God?
To develop a relationship with God, first you have to KNOW Him by spending time with Him.
How do we do that?
Simple. Just praying, studying the Bible and taking part in church and bible studies.
A true relationship with God does not happen overnight. It is a process that takes time – a time to grow in Trust and Faith.
As you build your relationship with God and your trust and faith evolves, you grow in SPIRITUAL STRENGTH and WISDOM. You will experience PEACE.
How does God reveal his Will for you?
God certainly would not write His Will for you on the wall or speak with an audible voice! Be persistent in seeking His guidance and wisdom.
And then, when you are obedient to God, and sincerely yearn for His will in your life, God will place His desires in your heart !
In other words, He actually begins to shape your desires so that you desire the things that He has already called you to do.
It is written that the Holy Spirit will create His purpose as a desire in your heart.
The scripture says-
‘For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:3(NLT)
How do you identify rightly if it is God’s will or not?
God will give you clarity and perfect peace when it’s the right thing to do or the move He wants you to make.
It will be joyful, not confusing. There will be peace of mind in it. There will be no two thoughts about it.
God’s peace is present in His will.
That’s how God guides you.
God uses many different ways as well, to steer you gently and tenderly to His Will .
Like:
- When the time is right, He Will open unexpected doors for you!
- He’ll bring conversations, information, and opportunities your way.
- He sends help through others.
- Or maybe leave an impression while hearing a message from an anointed man of God.
- You may also experience a constant nagging to do or not to do something.
- As mentioned earlier He’ll put urges , wishes and desires in your heart like a growing interest in some field of study or work.
The Lord uses circumstances to communicate, which are definite markers to lead you.
The key is wanting God’s will, not our own.
“Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
God’s Hidden Will and Revealed Will
God has two basic categories of Will for us.
- His Sovereign or Hidden Will
- His Revealed Will .
The Hidden Will is that we don’t know His will until it’s come to pass.
The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us” (Deuteronomy 29:29).
The Revealed Will is what God has already shown to us in the Scripture.
For instance, the bible says that:
- It is God’s will for us to love our neighbors.
- It is God’s will that we do not murder, steal, cheat, lie, gossip, or boast.
- It is Gods will that we show kindness, mercy, be humble and help the needy.
Many times we are so anxious to know God’s hidden will for the future, that we forget to walk in his revealed will in the present. That’s not right!
Just focus and obey on God’s Revealed will.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose”.
Romans 8:2
What about God given Talents?
Yes, God has given each one of us talents and abilities for a purpose. He expects us to use and develop them for His glory. Ask God for His wisdom on how to use them.
Christ explains very clearly about God given talents in the parable of the talents in Mathew 25:14-30.
The parable is about a master giving his the servants different sums of money to take care of according to their abilities. When the master returns, they have to give an account about how they have invested their master’s belongings.
In other words, we are all answerable to God about how we use our God given talents!
Here’s what the Bible says about using our God given talents and gifts:
“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully”.
(Romans 12:4-8)
Never misuse the God given talents.
Our health, wealth, fame and abilities are from above and we have to use it for the glory of our Heavenly Father. Our Master will return soon to settle accounts.
